In 1600, the Battle of Sekigahara was fiercely fought between the Eastern Army, led by Tokugawa Ieyasu, and the Western Army, led by Ishida Mitsunari. The story of the decisive conflict has been passed down from generation to generation. Forces of more than 150,000 participated in the battle, and the distinguished military commanders are said to have had their own individual motives to set up camp and fight.

About the accommodation

The whole house is rented to one group per day.
1st floor: Living room with TV, kitchen to use as you wish
2nd floor: Bedroom with balcony, shower, sink, toilet
Reservations allow the use of nearly the whole building.
House rules
The house rules are as follows.
・No shoes - Please take off your shoes at the entrance.
・No noise at night, 21:00-7:00
・No smoking indoors - Smoking on the veranda is allowed.
・Please separate the garbage.
・Turn off appliances and lights when not in use.
Please understand that Ak Jol is a vacation rental facility (guests stay in part of a private residence provided for lodging).
Nearby information
Sekigahara Station is within walking distance. Within a 5-minute walk are a drugstore where you can buy fresh food, a 24-hour convenience store, and a coffee shop with breakfast specials. There is also a soba restaurant within walking distance where you can eat soba produced in Sekigahara. Near Sekigahara Station is an izakaya where you can have dinner and a sushi restaurant with fish from Tsuruga. About 15 minutes away by car is Ikeda Onsen, known for the quality of its hot spring water. About 20 minutes away are many yakiniku restaurants where you can eat fine Hida beef for an inexpensive price.

- For this plan, an English-speaking guide to Sekigahara’s historic sites will give you a walking tour.
- The end time for the guided tour is a rough estimate. The time required varies from person to person.
- An English map is available for the walk.
- As you will be walking a long distance, please come in sneakers or other comfortable shoes you are used to wearing.
- Guests who are unsure if they can walk can leave the group midway, but the fee cannot be refunded for the difference.
- The course content can be changed upon coordination with the guide.
- The guided tour of Sekigahara’s historic sites will be on the first day.
- Lunch is not included, so please eat before participating.
- The tour is held rain or shine. Please bring your own rain gear.
- The trip fee does not include admission to the Gifu Sekigahara Ancient Battlefield Memorial Museum.
